Garden City Woman Hires Hitman during Divorce

A Garden City mother of four was recently arrested after attempting to hire a hitman to kill her husband. Initially, she contacted a confidential source saying she was going through a divorce, she wanted to have her husband killed, and she wanted him to arrange it. Instead, the source contacted the District Attorney's Office. The source then called the woman to tell her he could arrange the meeting. The hitman she made contact with was actually an undercover Nassau County Police detective. She gave him a picture of her husband, his home address, his work address, his license plate number, and a $500 down payment. Although she was reportedly given numerous chances to change her mind or back out of the deal, she repeatedly and ultimately agreed to pay $20,000 to have her husband killed. She is being charged with conspiracy in the second degree and criminal solicitation and faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
